David Grandstaff Obituary

David LeRoy Grandstaff was born on May 21, 1943, in Goodrich, Michigan to Robert LeRoy and Ruth Evelyn (England) Grandstaff. He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Comanche on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the age of 80.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

David graduated Lapeer High School in Michigan. He worked as an Engineering Manager in the communications industry. He started his career at Michigan Bell, retired from AT&T and contracted through Sprint. On April 20, 1974, he married Hazel Dean Sanders in Livonia, Michigan. In his free time, he was a handyman and enjoyed woodworking, traveling, history museums, and going to auctions. He loved and collected John Deere Tractors. Most of all, David loved helping others.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Hazel; step-daughters: Leslie Sutton, Jackie Stanton, and Lorrie Capehart.

Survivors include his children: Lisa Roten and husband Marvin of Fenton, MI, Laura Pilon and husband Matt of Livonia, Michigan, Larry Grandstaff and wife Jody of Westland, MI; step-children: Jamie White of Comanche, Terrie Poynter and husband Steven of New Baltimore, MI; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Grandstaff and wife Char of Prescott, AZ; niece, Cindy Iorio; and nephew, Jimmy Grandstaff.
