Delores Smith Obituary

Delores Ida Smith was born November 10, 1935 in Onapa, Oklahoma to Bert Marshall and Amey Avo (Williams) Jones. She passed away on August 23, 2021 with her family at her side in Duncan, Oklahoma. She was 85.

Funeral services are planned for Monday, August 30, at 10:00 A.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Johnny Gray and Brother Harold Matheny officiating. Interment will be in the Wewoka, Oklahoma Oakwood Cemetery on August 30th at 3:00 P.M.   A livestream of Mrs. Smith's chapel service will be available by visiting her obituary at www.whittfh.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home of Duncan.

Delores was a graduate of Waurika (Oklahoma) High School. She married Raymond Smith on June 21, 1975 at Wewoka. She was a member of Bethesda Church of God where she played the piano. She was employed as a retail salesperson in the local JC Penney store along with many others. She was a hard worker, but she was always happy to be a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and devoted caregiver to her mother. She sewed matching clothes for her children. She enjoyed shopping and trips to Braums. Delores was always look forward to Christmas, but her very favorite holiday was Easter which was always a big occasion. She cooked a large meal and had an egg hunt for her grandchildren. She loved family gatherings and especially family reunions because it brought her and her sisters together for a short time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; daughter-in-law, Judy Riddles; sisters: Annabel Woods, Ruth McCall, and Fleeta Doyle; and brother, Richard Jones.

Delores is survived by her children: Keith Riddles of Duncan, Karen Rather and husband Doug of Duncan, and Karla Fowler and husband Rodney of Paden, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Tommy Lewis, Justin Riddles, Josh Reddin, Michey Harrel, Mikayla Peck, Jesse Reddin, Jared Reddin, Lindsey Grounds, Cassie Maldonado, Jason Fowler, Christi Neeld, and Sandi Epperson; 37 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and sister, Jeanne Doyle of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
