Delores "Dody" Altom Obituary

Delores June "Dody" Altom was born on December 31, 1945, in Duncan, Oklahoma to Calvin and June (Franklin) Wood. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home in Duncan on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the age of 78.

The family will greet visitors from 6:00-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 6, at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service is planned for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 7, at Addington Cemetery with Pastor David McAlister officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Roy Qualls, Dwight Duncan, Dan Eberhart, Billy Almon, Fredrick Stull, and Wayne McKinney. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Dody graduated from Duncan High School and attended classes at Central State University. She worked as a landlord and property manager. Dody loved crafts and traveling the world. She visited Europe and Israel and especially loved cruises and was a Diamond Member. Dody also enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will remember her as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents: Roy and Ester Wood, Arba and Bessie Franklin; and sister, Diana Hammon.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, George Altom; children: Larry Ethridge and Alice Dennis and Carrie Caldwell and husband Jim all of Duncan; step-children: Giana Maxwell and husband Brandon of Edmond, OK, Phyllis Magady of Kansas City, MO, and Donna Altom of Claremore, OK; grandchild: Abbie Stull and husband Fredrick; step-grandchildren: Troy Houk, Tara Houk, Jimmy Randell, Whitney Randell, Brooklyn Randell, Whitley Johnson, Dakota Johnson, Cylé Maxwell; great-grandchild, Atticus Stull; brother, Monty James Wood; and step-sister, Leisha Ray Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dody's name to Chisholm Trail Hospice at 2150 W. Elk Ave, Duncan, OK, 73533.
