Don Garner Obituary

Don A. Garner, of Duncan, was born June 29, 1940 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Jerry and Lonnie (Wall) Garner. He passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the age of 81.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 4, at 10:00 A.M. in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Jim Wilson officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Stephens County Honor Guard and the Patriot Guard Riders. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Don graduated with the Class of 1958 at Comanche High School. He proudly served the United States in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1958 to 1962 when he received an honorable discharged. He was later employed as a telephone cable repairman. He married Twilla Lou Sweat on July 30, 2003 in Henrietta, Oklahoma.

He loved to work in his yard. Reading westerns and mysteries was a favorite pastime. He loved his family dearly. He would help anyone that needed any kind of assistance. He also loved his Christian family and served as a volunteer at Christians Concerned. Most of all, he loved the Lord and would read his Bible every day and faithfully pray.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Twilla; daughter, Shelly and husband Chris Heinen; grandchildren: Shannon and husband Joseph Reil, Sierra and husband Shane Burghard; and brother, Jerry Garner of Montana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Corey Swanson; twin brother, Dale Garner; and sisters, Marine Height, Marie Ketchum.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Western Heights Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
