Donald Ashford Obituary

Donald Lee Ashford was born October 24, 1965 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Judith Ann (Shoffner) Taff. He passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at his home in Duncan. He was 59.

A memorial service is planned for 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, October 29, at New Hope Baptist Church West with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Johnson, Randall Allen, Mark Sylvester, Glen Daniels, Robert Crimms, and David Hunt. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Donald was a proud graduate of Duncan High School. From a young age, he embodied the spirit of service and curiosity-qualities that would define his life.

As a devoted Scout Master, Donald mentored countless young men, instilling in them the values of integrity, resilience, and community. His hands were rarely idle; whether under the hood of a car or fixing a broken machine, Donald was known as the "fixer of all things"-a man who could repair anything and always did so with a smile.

Donald's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a nurturing father and a loyal friend. His commitment to his community was equally unwavering. He served as a volunteer firefighter, always ready to lend a hand in times of need, and was a familiar, welcoming face as a former usher at Ray of Hope Church.

His legacy is one of compassion, craftsmanship, and quiet heroism. Donald Ashford will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Donald was preceded in death by his brother, David Ashford, and step-father, James Taff. He is survived by his mother, Judith Taff; children: Justin Ashford and wife Mechelle of Duncan, Heather Ashford of Edmond, OK; grandchildren: Avery Ashford; Jameson Ashford; the mother of his children, Amanda Chaffin; and brothers: Daniel Ashford of Oklahoma City, and Darrel Ashford of Duncan.
