Don was born on December 23, 1937 in Duncan, Oklahoma. He grew up with one sister, Carol, in the Duncan area. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1957. Don met Jeffie at Sleepy's Donut Shop on Highway 81 and they married at the old Banner Church in 1959. They were married for 62 years before she passed in 2021. Don retired from the US Postal Service in 1998 after more than 28 years of service as a mail carrier. He did not take one sick day the entire time he worked for the postal service except for calling in on his final day. He also worked at Mistletoe Express, Montgomery Wards, and Halliburton. He and Jeffie also owned Stop Light Grocery on Bois D'Arc in the early 1960's.
Don was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved to travel. Among his favorite travel destinations were Florida, Alaska, and Colorado with Canada topping the list. While on the beach, he could often be spotted in his swim trunks and cowboy boots. He loved to hunt deer, elk, and black bear. As soon as the crappie started biting, he would be at the lake. He also loved garage sales, estate sales, and antiquing. He was known for his great sense of humor and was never above pulling a prank. He was a devoted father and grandfather (lovingly known as Dede).
Don is survived by his daughter Deborah and husband Paul of Marlow, OK; son Billy and wife Tracy of Denton, TX; son-in-law Paul Moore of Edmond, OK; sister Carol Eubanks of Longview, TX; grandson Jeremy Couey and wife Lauren of Edmond, OK; granddaughter Jennifer Crutcher of Kaufman, TX; grandson Shane Moore and wife Sarah of Moore, OK; granddaughter Wendy Moore of Moore, OK; granddaughter Jessica Garcia and husband Tizoc of Austin, Texas; grandson William Burden and wife Melissa of Marlow, OK; grandson Scott Burden and wife Kim of Marlow, OK; grandson Austin Chapman of Coppell, TX; grandson Lucas Chapman of Denton, TX; and great-grandkids Heather, Haley, J.J., Jack, Preston, Avery, Isaiah, Lily, Genevieve, Orion, Sadie, Ava, and many nieces and nephews.
