Duane Leroy Simpson

Duane LeRoy (Shorty) Simpson was born November 24, 1937 in Webster City, Iowa to Donald and Vivian (Wilson) Simpson. He passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at his home in Hastings, Oklahoma. He was 87 years old.

A Celebration of Life service will be planned for a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center of Duncan.

Duane graduated from Duncombe High School in Iowa. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from December 1955 to December 1959. He was married to Jaunita M. (Roach) Simpson. He was employed as a construction heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. In their spare time, he and Jaunita were frequent travelers. Duane enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Vivian Simpson; sister, Joan Murray, brother, Dean Simpson; and son, Chuck McGuire. Duane is survived by his wife, Jaunita M. Simpson of Hastings; sister, Karen Burgess of Cassville, Missouri; son, Duane Edward Simpson of McPherson, Kansas; daughters: Lori Baker and husband Shawn of Austin, Texas, Denise Fisher of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Debbie Griggs and husband Steve of Fort Dodge, Doreen Simpson of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Charlotte Logan and husband Dale of Mineral Wells, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Hannah Baker, Aaron Baker, Khristina Ybarra, Robert Simpson, Heather McCoy, Dale Logan Jr., Lynsey Griggs, Kyle Niemier, Adam Niemier, Kyle Bancroft; great grandchildren: Zachary McCoy Jr., C.B. McCoy, Madelyn Bancroft, Jace Bancroft, Kyson Bancroft; and numerous nieces and nephews.
