Earla "Chickie" Franklin Obituary

Earla "Chickie" Kay Franklin, of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, was born January 17, 1955 in Bedford, Pennsylvania to Walter Earl and Alverna "Vernie" Mae (Price) Franklin. She passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the age of 66 in Oklahoma City.

A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 2:00PM at the Apache First Baptist Church with Chaplain James Smith officiating. The family has requested that masks be worn. The service will be shown on Facebook Live at First Baptist Church Apache. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crews Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Earla attended school in Stecker, Oklahoma through 6th grade then went to Apache schools and was in the class of 1973. While raising her daughters she went to City College in Norman and enjoyed her career as a Medical Coding Technician for over 30 years. Earla loved raising chickens, doing projects around her home, and was a talented seamstress. She loved swimming and going to the lake, where she could often be found sunbathing to maintain her gorgeous tan. Her daughters and grandchildren were the center of her universe, and she enjoyed many vacations with them from mountains to Disneyworld to oceans and deserts and everything in between. Earla always looked forward to returning to her hometown of Apache so she could visit extended family and friends, all of whom knew the moment they saw her they were about to be tied up for a bit, for a giant hug was coming followed by wonderful, animated stories with way too many details.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dave Price; and granddaughter, Megan Belongie.

Earla is survived by her daughters: Jeri and husband Robert Milford of Oklahoma City, Donona and husband Don Tucker of Wynnewood, Jaclyn Constant of Bridge Creek; grandchildren: Cory and wife Allison Milford, Nicalas and wife Mia Burns, Kristin Dean and fiancé Sean Cusack, Matthew and wife Rylie Dean, Jaiden Pryor, Railyn Constant; great grandchildren: Nicole Belongie, Copper Dean, Maddox Milford, Marley Dean, Craig Burns II; sister, Rita and husband Bill Isom of Stecker; brother, Scott and wife Christi Franklin of Apache; sister-in-law, Kathi Price of New Paris, Pennsylvania; aunt, Vesta Boone of Kountze, Texas; best friend, Cindy Hilley and boyfriend Mike Horne of Warr Acres; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
