Eddie Ray "Ed" Ezell completed his journey of life on earth at Promise Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born July 6, 1938 in Agawam, Oklahoma to Jake and Avis (Heisch-Berry) Ezell.

A visitation is planned for Monday, January 22, 2024 at Whitt Funeral Home from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 23, at the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Jake Suniga, Matt Burns, and the Patriot Guard Riders.

Ed grew up in Rush Springs, Oklahoma and attended school there. He participated in sports and was Vice President of his Senior Class. After graduation, Ed joined the U.S. Army where he served for 3 years. He trained at Ft. Sill for 6 months and spent the remainder of his military career in Germany. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Ed went to Southwestern Oklahoma State University and earned an Associate's Degree in Accounting.

Ed's career was in the railroad business. He worked for Rock Island for 10 years and for Union Pacific for 32 years before he retired in 2002. He then worked for 5 years at Duncan Golf and Country Club as comptroller.

On June 3, 1965, Ed married Wanda Lawson and together they raised 2 children, Eddie and Stacy. At the time of Wanda's passing, they had been married for 44 years. Ed then married Jo Wylder on July 18, 2017, and enjoyed 6 years of marriage before his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Wanda; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include his wife of the home, Jo Wylder-Ezell; daughter, Stacy Ezell and husband Willie Suniga; son, Eddie Ezell; grandchildren: Elizabeth Burns and husband Matt and Jake Suniga; great-grandchildren: Jayce and Estella; and brother, James Ezell.
