Edna Joyce Davis

Edna Joyce (Farrell) Davis passed from this life to her eternal heavenly home on Friday, June 19, 2026 in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 85 years young. Edna was born in Florence, Arizona on March 23, 1941 to Edward Jefferson Farrell and Lenora Agather (Fulbright) Farrell. She was raised in the "then" small town of Maricopa, Arizona. She was one of the 12 students in the very first graduating class of Maricopa High School in 1959. She attended one year of college at the University of Arizona.

She married the love of her life in Lordsburg, New Mexico on February 16, 1961. They eloped (after only 6 weeks of dating) after her dad threatened to shoot Gene if he married his daughter. Everyone in Arizona said it would never last but thankfully they were wrong and they were married for 58 years. After several moves in Arizona, the family of 6 moved to Velma, Oklahoma in 1973. They put down roots and became a big part of the community. Here is where she found a home to raise her family and became deeply rooted in her faith and belief in Jesus. She passed that to all four of her children.

For most of her life, Edna was a homemaker where she stayed busy raising her children. She did own a hardware store for seven years (an unwanted present from Gene). But she tackled that like she did everything else and made a success of it. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and if you got married or had a baby in this community you probably received a baby blanket or a dishrag. She also loved playing bridge and going to church.

The highlight of her life was becoming a Nanny. She cherished and doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. You could always find Nanny at every sporting event, awards assembly or baptism. She was always making cookies and brownies for the sports teams and was quickly adopted by friends of her kids and grandkids. If you ever visited Nanny at her house you were greeted by a doormat that read "You're about to get hugged." Nothing has ever been more accurate, if you ran into Edna-you got a huge smile and a hug!

Survivors include her children; Caren and KD Eason, Lenora and Tom Saville, Charlie and Belinda Davis, Dawn and David Allred all of Velma and step-daughter Linda Micale of North Carolina. Special great-niece Karla Clapper of Johnson City, Tennessee. Twelve grandchildren and spouses; Brad and Allison Eason, Kendra and Blake Smith, Trey and Tiffany Eason, Kylee and Dalton Harless, Aaron Saville, Jace and Briley Saville, Joseph Davis, Isabella Davis, Sophia Davis, Hillary Tivis, Jake and Lacy McGuire, Olivia and Gage Miller. Thirteen great-grandchildren: Paisley and Landry Eason, Kolin, Parker and Gabby Smith, Thea and Tinley Eason, Daegan, Nora and Lizzie Harless, Lyla, Dawson, and Miller McGuire. Nephew, Edward Farrell, two nieces, Claudia Jeffery, and Jocelyn Parks and many, many friends and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents, Ed and Lenora Farrell, her brother and his wife Eddie and Alma Farrell. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Clydell and Johnny Dale. Mother-in-law and Father-in-law Spence and Lelia Davis and Leona and Bea Lasenberry.

Viewing is planned for 9:00 A.M.-7:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 23, at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Velma with the family receiving guests beginning at 5:00 P.M. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, at Velma Baptist Church with Kerry Glasgow officiating. Interment will follow in the New Velma Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home with Brad Eason, Trey Eason, Jake McGuire, Aaron Saville, Jace Saville, and Joseph Davis serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Smith, Dalton Harless, Gage Miller, Jerry Strickland, and Anthony Hernandez.
