Eldon Wayne "Poodle" Hurley was born in Sterling, Oklahoma on May 18, 1935, to Floyd Hurley and Elsie (Jackson) Hall. He passed away Friday, October 6, in Duncan at the age of 88.
A funeral service is planned for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 12, at Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Woods officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Services.
Wayne graduated from Sterling High School in 1953 where he was a star basketball player. He then joined the Army where he flew and worked on helicopters. He also joined the National Guard and the Air Force. Throughout his life, he worked as a roughneck, heavy equipment operator, and also in construction. He loved gambling in casinos and won many prizes from drawings and giveaways. His favorite prize was a zero-turn John Deere tractor.
He married Shirley Ann Davis on June 4, 1960, in Nebraska. Together, they raised their two daughters, Dana and Teresa.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Hurley; and brothers: Howard Hurley and Don Hurley.
Survivors include his wife of the home; daughters, Dana Love and husband Ricky and Teresa Davis all of Marlow; grandchildren: Kevin Bush and wife Eva and Kaley Davis; 3 great-grandchildren: Paul Bush, Steven Bush, and Eldon Bush.
