Elizabeth (Wingo) Banks was born December 30, 1930 on a farm near Lockney, Texas to William Howard and Emily (Thomas) Wingo. She went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, May 5, 2023, in Duncan, Oklahoma. She was 92.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church on a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted Whitt Funeral Home.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Plainview High School, in Plainview, TX. She received her Bachelor's degree from Texas State College for Women and her Master's degree from the University of Oklahoma. She married William Patrick Banks Sr. in 1953 in Denton, TX. She worked as a microbiologist for Duncan Regional Hospital for 32 years. She loved her job so much she worked until she was 75 before retiring. She loved sewing and knitting, but she really enjoyed helping other people. She loved her country and was a staunch Republican. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Family time was very special to her. She was involved with the Daughters of the American Revolution and loved genealogy research. She had a deep abiding faith in Jesus Christ and enjoyed singing in the choir at First Baptist Church, of which she was a member for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Paula (Banks) Anderson; brother, William Jacob Wingo; and sister, Eleanor (Wingo) Warden.
Survivors include her son, William Patrick Banks Jr. and wife Sharon of Duncan; grandchildren: Tate Banks of Allen, TX, Emma (Banks) Roddy and husband Connor of Ft. Worth, TX; nephew, William Howard Wingo and wife Reba (Wright) of Phoenix, AZ; nieces: Julia (Wingo) Shinnick and husband Tom of Kyle, TX, Alice Warden of Houston, TX; and many friends and former co-workers in Duncan.
