Elmer Lee Brown Obituary
Elmer Lee Brown, born December 5, 1939, in Antelope, Texas, to Willie and Lena (Hubbard) Brown, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the age of 86.
Elmer spent his childhood moving from town to town as his father worked in the oilfield, an upbringing that shaped his adaptability and strong work ethic. He graduated from Central High School in 1959. On June 12, 1960, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane Ray. Together they built a beautiful life, raising their family and sharing 59 blessed years of marriage before Mary's passing.
A true jack of all trades, Elmer lived a life of service, faith, and hard work. He spent eight years as a missionary in Kentucky, touching countless lives with his compassion and dedication. He worked many years in plumbing, heating, and air conditioning, and later retired from the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, where he served in maintenance. Elmer also volunteered as a chaplain with Oklahoma Disaster Relief for 12 years, offering comfort and hope during times of crisis.
Elmer had a deep love for sports and served as a referee and official for 18 years, calling baseball, football, basketball, and softball games. Outside of work and service, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends-moments he cherished most.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Mary; and his brother, John Brown.
Elmer is survived by his children: Kurt Brown of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and Janet Knapp and her husband Darrell of Duncan, Oklahoma. He leaves behind grandchildren Jonathon Knapp and wife Dana, Jennifer Killmer and husband Chris, Joshua Brown, James Brown, and Jeromy Knapp and wife Taylor; as well as great-grandchildren: Aubrey Knapp, Alison Knapp, Vivian Killmer, Amery Knapp, Karsten Killmer, George Knapp, and Millie Knapp. Other survivors include his brother, Floyd Brown of Duncan, Oklahoma, and his sister, Elaine Shower and husband Bob of Scottsdale, Arizona.
The family will receive visitors at Whitt Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, from 6:00-7:00 P.M. A funeral service is planned for 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 22 in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Passmore and Pastor Art Brown officiating.
