Emma "Leona" (Denton) Mauricio was born July 13, 1947, in Ruidoso, New Mexico to James and Ruth (Calloway) Denton. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 77.

According to her wishes, there are no services planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Leona earned a degree in cosmetology and made owning and operating a beauty salon her life's work. In 1967, she married Joseph Mauricio in Rhode Island and together raised their children, Tina and Curtis. Leona loved doing hair and nails, arts and crafts, watching movies, cooking, and was an avid fan of Elvis Presley. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Leona is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; a brother, and her life-long friend Irene Denton. Survivors include her children: Tina Mauricio of Northlake, TX, Curtis Mauricio of Colleyville, TX; grandchildren: Stormee Hollibaugh and husband Curtis of Vancouver, Canada, and Ella Ashabranner of Flower Mound, Texas.
