Ernest Ray Branstetter, born on August 6, 1930 in Cape Fair, Missouri to Roy Branstetter and Eva Branstetter, concluded his earthly journey in Duncan, Oklahoma on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the age of 93.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 30, from 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 1, at 10:00 A.M. at Eastside Church of Christ, officiated by Ron Stough. Interment will take place on Tuesday, April 2, in Aurora, Missouri's Maple Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are John Branum, Richard Earles, Tyson Winegeart, Aaron Schlegel, Jackson Branum, and Boston White.
Ernest united in marriage with Ethel "Fredalene" Morene Hutchinson on July 30, 1955. Together, they raised a beautiful family which was blessed with the arrivals of their children -Brian, Denise, Laura, Ernie, and Gayle. Fredalene preceded Ernest in death on September 19, 1991.
Ernest devoted himself to a career as a Gas Measurement Technician for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company, providing steadfast support for his family. He showed bravery and patriotism during his service in the Korean War, earning both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his heroic actions. Beyond his professional and military duties, Ernest found joy in hunting, coaching his children, and fishing with his son, Ernie. He demonstrated loving compassion as the primary caregiver for Ernie until his passing. Throughout his life, Ernest exemplified unwavering devotion to his faith, consistently demonstrating a deep commitment to serving God. His steadfast dedication extended beyond mere attendance at church services; he actively participated in the spiritual life of his community as an elder within the church.
Ernest leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion for his children: Brian and spouse Janie Branstetter of Duncan, Laura and spouse John Zeek of Cleveland, OK, Gayle Hill of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Alysa and Brendhan Fritts, Christa and John Branum, Tara and Austin Taylor, Richard and Alissa Earles, Dacia and Skylar Reynolds, Tyson Winegeart, Aaron and Nikole Schlegel, Sharee Schlegel, Marissa Denny; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Fredalene; daughter, Denise Corr; son, Ernest Branstetter II; four brothers; and four sisters.
Ernest Ray Branstetter will be remembered fondly for his love of family, and faithful service to God.
