We remember Esther Bolding-Coker, who sadly passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 96. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 31, at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Rev. John Wheeler and Arnold Nelson officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Esther was born May 12, 1929, in Abernathy, TX to Willie Crane and Julia Rollins. She married Cecil Bolding on May 26, 1946, with whom she had 4 children, Diana Lynn, Sandra Gayle, Donald Keith, and Darrell Gene. As a preacher's wife, she lived in various towns around Oklahoma. However, when she settled down, it was Duncan that she claimed home and wanted to spend the remainder of her life. During her time in Duncan, she made many friendships that she cherished. She spent years as a "check out lady" at Big G and Goodner's Grocery Store where she met many of those friends. Esther's friends and family were extremely important to her, and she loved sharing memories and stories that she had with them. On April 24, 2010, her family grew again when she married Troy P. Coker, Jr. They spent 5- and-a-half wonderful years together on the farm. Several years after Troy's death, Esther moved to Canoe Brook Assisted Living Center, where she continued to make new and reconnect with old friends. The staff at Canoe Brook welcomed her so warmly and definitely made her feel like family. While in Duncan, she was a member of Stephen's Methodist Church for many years, the First United Methodist Church and then joined Troy as a member of First Christian Church.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Julia Crane; 4 sisters: Lorene Oyler, Vivian Thomas, Annie (Jo) Elliot, Monte Baxter; her spouse, Troy P. Coker, Jr.; her 4 children; and 1 stepdaughter, Karen Lane. She is survived by 1 sister, Blanche Walker; daughter-in-law, Ann (Ken) Fell; 6 grandkids: Derec (Celina) Bolding, Geoff Bolding, Danny (Tiffani) Bolding, Karyn (Chris) Madison, Sabra (Carovi) Ramos, Amber (Danny) Reed; 12 great-grandkids; and 3 great-great-grandkids. Other survivors include her stepsons: Terry (Kathy) Snider, Troy P. (Cathy) Coker III, James (Ammorn) Coker; stepdaughter, Robin (Tommy) Summers; step-grandson, Scott Hobbs; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends (especially Cookie Anderson) that she considered family.
