Frances Spurgeon Obituary

Frances Lee (Allen) Spurgeon was born on May 31, 1938, in Duncan, Oklahoma to Cecil and Julia Eva (Mabry) Allen. She passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020, at the age of 81.

There will be a private inurnment held at a later date in Missouri. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Frances was a graduate of Duncan High School. She married Arvil "Larry" Spurgeon on November 4, 1957, in Vinita, Oklahoma. To this union, three daughters - Julie, Elisha and Gina - were born. Larry and Frances moved to Eminence, Missouri in 1967 and remained there until 2004, when they returned to Duncan.

She loved working in the garden and Larry always had the biggest garden in town when the girls were growing up. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing cards and bingo. Spending time with her family and friends and going on trips with Larry were very important to her. She loved her family dearly. Frances was a member of the Stephens United Methodist Church.

Frances is survived by her daughters: Julie and husband Bill Lewis of Sand Springs, Elisha Bridgers of Duncan, Gina and husband Scott Durment of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren: Brandi Martin and Brandon of Montgomery, Texas, Audrey Bridgers of Stillwater; great grandchildren: Rheya Dacus, Ashton Martin, Brooke Martin, Lyric Gurie; and sister, Bobbie June and husband Kenneth Ashcraft of Altus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; grandsons: Joshua Cole Dacus, Justin Wesley Dacus; and sister, Kay Shoemate.
