Frances "Fran" Stiewert Obituary

Frances "Fran" Allene Mullins Stiewert, 89 of Duncan passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 25, 2024 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Services are under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.

Fran was born on December 31, 1934 to Sherman Francis Mullins and Ethel Allene Jones Mullins in Haskell, TX. Fran graduated from Haskell High School and Draughn's Business College. She married Leo Stiewert in 1953. They moved numerous times because of Leo's job in the petroleum industry. In each town, Fran took jobs as a bookkeeper until the couple purchased their own oil producing properties. They moved to Duncan in 1982 where they purchased and managed rental properties.

Fran liked to write poems and was a member of the Garden Club, the Federated Music Club, the Arts Club, the Mental Health Board and the choir at the First United Methodist Church. She served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the church administrative board, and a leader of Circle of Care. She was involved with the Christian's Concerned charitable organization. Her love for her family was large and she was very generous.

Fran loved her husband, her children, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had many friends and always said when she got to Heaven she wanted to work in God's Garden in the morning and sing in His Holy Choir in the afternoon.

Survivors include her husband, Leo and their three children: Linda Havely and husband Pete of Joplin, MO; Dianna Carlton and husband Bob of San Antonio, TX; and Michelle Rue and husband Johnny of Duncan, OK. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and their families: David Havely and Marcia Bunn, Steven and Ashley Havely, Tierney Hodges, Logan Seals, Alyssa Rue and Danny Van, Parker Seals and Alyssa Lumpee.

Fran's greatest joy was her 3 great grandchildren: Harper and Hudson Havely and Thatcher Hodges.

Fran is also survived by a sister, Mary Counts of Midland, TX and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers.

Serving as pallbearers are her grandchildren: David Havely, Steven Havely, Tierney Hodges, Logan Seals, Alyssa Rue and Parker Seals.
