Gabriel Kent Martin was born October 5, 1982, to Stanley Kent and Julie Ann (Hays) Martin in Evansville, Indiana. He passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 38.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 4, at 11:00 A.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Ryan Rowell officiating along with Mike Steil offering the eulogy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Gabe graduated from Duncan High School with the Class of 2001 and attended Oklahoma University. He was very fluent in Spanish. He was into all things musical - guitar, piano, and song writing. He loved praise and worship and attended church at Impact580 when in Duncan and at Life Church and Frontline Church in OKC. He enjoyed all sports especially St. Louis Cardinal baseball.
Gabriel was not afraid of hard work, but he always found the people he worked with to be more important than the job itself. Gabe always shared a special bond with his older sister Sarah and found great joy in hanging out with his brothers and playing with his nephews. Gabriel always put himself last! He had the kindest soul and had a true yearning for God.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, G.N. and Barbara Hays; paternal grandfather, Lowell Martin; and aunt, Shari Hays.
Gabe is survived by his parents, Stan and Julie Martin; sister, Sarah and husband Tyler Yarborough; brothers: Caleb and wife Lisa Martin of Duncan and Isaac and wife Brianna Martin of Paris, Texas. Nephew and nieces: Rocky Martin, Hays Yarborough, Noah Martin, Havana Martin, Mila Martin; grandmother, Betty R. Martin (97) of Hollywood, Florida; aunts and uncles: Steve and Rita Martin of Hollywood, FL; Jerry and Anita Finch of Ardenvoir, WA; Walter and Jane Scott of Princeton, IN; Vance Hays of Petersburg, IN, Jack and Sherry Rudibaugh of Evansville, IN, and cousins Ryan Scott, Ben Scott, Matt Hays, Darcee Hays, Scott Finch, Adam Finch, David Rudibaugh, and Jamie Rudibaugh.
Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Benton and Troy Copeland.
