Garneta Gay Johnston Obituary

Garneta Gay Johnston passed away January 28, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born in Hollis, Oklahoma to Eddie and Mary Miller. She met and married the love of her life, Charles Johnston, while he was serving in the Air Force. She and Chuck cherished their three daughters Morrisa, Denise, and Charlene. She was a gifted seamstress, and made most of her daughters' clothes as they were growing up. She continued her sewing craft throughout her entire life, even selling her creations at her dress shop 'Now and Then'. She was very proud of her father, the songwriter Eddie Miller. After his passing she created 'Neta Johnston Music' to continue his legacy. She was an avid gardener and loved tending the rose gardens that Chuck provided her. She enjoyed volunteering at the Toy Shop of Duncan and requested that in lieu of flowers, any contributions on her behalf should be made to them.

She is survived by her sister Bobbie Hedrick, sister-in-law Linda Miller, daughter Morrisa Copley and husband Ed, daughter Denise Newman and husband Mike, daughter Charlene Johnston, grandchildren Robert Stonebraker, Sarah Evans, and Jed Copley.

She was preceded in death by parents Eddie and Mary Miller, husband Charles Johnston, brother Stan Miller, son-in -law Larry Shoemaker Jr, grandson Larry Shoemaker III (Trey), and grandson Dereck Benson.

In honor of her wishes, there will be a private family service.
