Gary Paul Vining, was born February 17, 1948, in Hammond Louisiana to Douglas Vining and Pearl (Constant) Threton. He passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 while fishing at Taylor Lake. He was 77 years old.
A visitation is planned for Saturday, June 28, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Gary graduated from high school in Ponchatoula, Louisiana and served his country in the Army Reserves doing a tour in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. On June 13, 1970, he married Ann King in Wichita Falls, Texas. Gary served as mayor in Marlow, Oklahoma from 2003 to 2006. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and taxidermist. He also enjoyed working in his garden and loved spending time with his two grandsons and his dog, Tabi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Pearl, and his daughter, Dana Baker. Survivors include his wife of the home, Ann; grandsons: Logan Baker, Landon Baker; brothers: Ronald Vining and wife Trish, Donald Vining, and brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Karen King.
