Gary "Toad" Fritts Obituary

Gary Wayne "Toad" Fritts was born June 1, 1945 in Duncan, Oklahoma. His parents were Don William and Reba (Brower) Fritts. He reunited with his heavenly father on Friday, March 17, 2023, in Edmond, Ok. He was 77.

The family will greet visitors on Sunday, March 19, between 4:00-6:00pm at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service is planned for Monday, March 20, at 2:00pm at Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Jim Wilson officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Cody Taylor, Cody Earls, Tyler Earls, Grant Martin, Billy Martin, and Kenny Taylor; honorary pallbearers are Bill Gooden, Ronnie Blair, Jason Nelson, Tony Hooper, Earl Taylor, Glenn Fowler, Keith Earls, Hollis Ramsey and Josh Richardson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

He graduated from Duncan High School in 1964. Gary married the love of his life, Judy Kelly, on April 20, 1968 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Duncan. They have two children together - Kelly and Chad. He loved and was so proud of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Gary was a machinist and welder by trade, working for Halliburton. In his free time he could be found golfing, fishing, or camping. One of his favorite pastimes was resting in his lawn chair, to which he would insist that he was "just resting his eyes." He loved rodeos and western movies, but enjoyed nothing more than watching his great-grandchildren play sports. Above all else, he was a man of God. He will be remembered for his optimism. When asked, whether feeling good or bad, he would always respond with "I'm just fair to middlin'."

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandy (Fritts) Griffin.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Judy; children: Kelly (Fritts) Taylor and husband Earl of Duncan, Chad Fritts and wife Lori of Duncan; grandchildren: Cody Earls and wife Haylee of Duncan, Tyler Earls and MacKenzee Matlock of Duncan, Cody Taylor and wife Kayse of Duncan, Kenny Taylor and wife Sarah of Duncan, Maisie Richardson and husband Josh of Duncan, Lauren Martin and husband Grant of Comanche; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Western Heights Baptist Church, 2305 W. Beech Avenue, Duncan, OK 73533.
