Gordon Eugene Moebius was born November 24, 1938 in Payne County, Oklahoma to Henry A. and Laura (Weldon) Moebius. He completed his earthly journey on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at his home in Duncan at the age of 82.
A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, September 16, at 1:30 P.M. at Bethel Cemetery near Stillwater, Oklahoma with Pastor James Miller officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Gordon was a Godly man who enjoyed his family and living life. Always cheerful, he made the best of any situation. He loved taking care of his “girls” and going on long drives to see new and old places. He was easy to talk to and made lifelong friends. An avid outdoorsman, Gordon loved to hunt, fish and spend time outdoors. After retiring from the Soil Conservation Service, he rehabbed and sold houses while earning his real estate broker’s associate license. Then he created his own business, GEM Services, working as a soils consultant advising on a variety of environmental issues. He was active in the Duncan Gideon’s organization and the State Retirees Association for the Soil Conservation Service, where he had served as president. Chief among his priorities was serving as an elder and teacher at the Duncan Christian Center and being an extraordinary husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 61 years, Minnie Carol Rains-Moebius; brothers, Henry Moebius, Jr. and Donald Lee Moebius; and sisters, Janice Sue Brooks and infant, Doris Moebius.
Gordon is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law; Debra Handy of Oklahoma City, Susan and Jeff Henderson of Seminole, Mark Handy of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Evan Mark Handy of Oklahoma City, Emma Nichole Henderson of Seminole, Hayley Moore of Oklahoma City; and beloved sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
