Four years later, he graduated from Oklahoma State University double majoring in Agricultural Economics and Accounting with a Minor in English. While attending college he served as the President of his fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho.
After graduation, Greg began his accounting career at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in Tulsa (OK). He worked there until he joined his brother in their accounting firm Shepherd & Shepherd CPAs in Duncan, OK in 1982.
Greg married Melba (Taylor) Shepherd on March 12, 1987 and together they raised three children, Derek, Kaci, and Danielle Shepherd. They were married until her passing in June, 2007.
Greg found a second chance at love when he married Tenna (Deaton) Shepherd on October 20, 2012, fulfilling the scripture 'two are better than one'. They enjoyed creating new memories together with their children and grandchildren.
