Harold Jackson Morton was born April 19, 1936, in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Walter Lee and Ella Louise (Jones) Morton. He passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020, in Oklahoma City at the age of 84.
Viewing will be on Monday, June 15, from 12:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Crews Funeral Home in Apache. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, at 2:00 P.M. at the Apache First Baptist Church with Deacon David Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery on Pine Ridge. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crews Funeral Home.
Harold attended Cho-co-lat Elementary Indian School near Stilwell and was a 1956 graduate of Stilwell Public Schools. He then attended Seward (Kansas) County Community College and The University of Oklahoma. He proudly served his country in the US Army and Reserves from 1954 to 1962. On September 4, 1960, he married Loetta Knapp in Stilwell. They had three children - Michael, Connie and Justine. Loetta preceded him in death in 2008.
During his Army stint, he was named the Top Honor Guard in Washington D.C. for 5 years. He was employed for 30 years as a gas technician for Marathon Oil Company. He also worked for Farmland in Satana, Kansas for 12 years. While working for Farmland, he used points he earned from oil changes to purchase new bicycles for family and friends.
Harold was a big Oklahoma University football and Saint Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed fishing with his wife and could play many musical instruments. Loetta and he opened their home to everyone. He never met a stranger.
Along his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loetta; son, Michael; granddaughter, Tiffany Martinez; sister, Louise Denney; and brothers: Dean Morton, Andy Morton.
Harold is survived by his daughters: Connie and husband Gary Goodwin of Broxton; Justine Martinez of Borger, Texas; grandchildren: Latien and wife Delores Nielsen; McKayla and husband Jayman Gregory; C.J. Goodwin; Pvt. Kacy Price; Pvt. Kayla Goodwin; and great grandchildren: Andres Aguilar, Andrine Aguilar; Briella Rodriquez; Mayci Lumly; Ashton White; Azara White; Joanna Rodriquez; Dirk Nielson; Zane Nielson; Kambryn Gregory.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brewster Parton, Greg Barton, Jay Gregory, Latien Nielsen, Gary Goodwin, and Carlos Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Dirk Nielson, Zane Nielsen, and Adrian Aguilar.
