Harold Benjamin Kendall Obituary
Harold Benjamin (Ben) Kendall passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025 in Liberty, Missouri after suffering a heart attack. Benjamin was born in Anadarko, OK on June 24, 1972 to Eddie and Jane Kendall of Apache, OK.
Ben spent his early years around the Fletcher-Elgin area. He began his schooling in Elgin. His father was a minister, so they moved several times. In 1991, Ben graduated from Winnetonka High School in Kansas City, MO. While there, he played shot put, football, and in his senior year, he lettered in Audio.
He was a man of a quiet nature with a tender and giving heart with a special love and friendship for children and others.
His last selfless gift of giving was being an organ donor.
He spent many happy hours on the farm near Apache where his Grandpa and Grandma Powers lived. His Grandpa started letting him learn to drive the pickup by allowing him to drive in the pasture and down the country roads.
The OU Sooners and the Kansas City Chiefs were his favorite football teams. He was a huge NASCAR, he never missed watching a race or cheering Jimmie Johnson on to victory. He was an avid TV watcher, movie buff, and video game player. He enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting and hunting with friends.
Spending time with his cousins and family was important to Ben.
Ben became a cross-country truck driver, driving all the lower 48 states and into Canada. He loved seeing the USA and lots of places he might never have visited. He also worked for the Kansas Department of Correction at the Lansing Correctional Facility as a guard. He later returned to truck driving. In 2022, he suffered and overcame a stroke and eventually went to work for a security company.
Those left to cherish his memory and remember all the good times they shared are his mother, Jane Kendall; brother, Robert and wife Dawn; nieces: Abby, Morgan, Paige Kendall; great-niece, Brinley; and a multitude of family.
Those that have gone ahead include his dad, Eddie Kendall; grandparents: Mearl and Helen Kendall, Harold and Lucy Powers; and a special cousin, Kenneth Powers, his best buddy.
A funeral service is planned for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 22, at First Assembly of God Church in Elgin with Rev. Larry Thoma officiating. Interment will follow in the Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Randy Pocowatchit, Clint Braly, Jeremy Kendall, Nathan Kendall, Jared Kendall, Jonathan Kendall, Micah Love, and Paul Morgan.
