Harry Dan Cooper was born August 15, 1932, in Temple, Oklahoma to Virgil Hill and Myrtle Mae (Phillips) Cooper. He ended his earthly journey on May 28, 2020, at his home with his loving family at his side. He was 87 years old.
Viewing will begin on Monday, June 1, at 1:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, June 2, 5:00-7:00 P.M. with the Rose Croix Masonic rites being performed at 6:30 P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, at 2:00 P.M. at Eastside Church of Christ with minister Ron Stough officiating. Interment will be Friday, June 5, at 2:00 P.M. at the Temple, OK Cemetery with Masonic Blue Lodge Ceremony rites being performed by Deputy Sterling Heldenbrand, Richard Ahlskog, and Jason Smith. Full military honors will presented by the Stephens County Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Harry was a 1950 graduate of Temple High School. He immediately joined the U.S. Navy where he was stationed at Moffit Field Naval Jose until his discharge in April, 1955. During his time in San Jose he met Mary Ruth Kennedy. They were married on September 16, 1953, in San Jose. To this union, a son, Virgil Lloyd, and a daughter, Regina Lynn, were born. When Mary passed away in 2015, they had been married for 62 years.
The family moved to Duncan in August of 1955, when Harry went to work for Halliburton as a machinist. He ended his career with Halliburton as a computer programmer after 31 years of service, retiring in 1986. He then sold real estate. Harry was currently employed by the Duncan Public School System in the Bus Maintenance Department.
Harry was active in the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star Chapter of Duncan. He was also an active member of the Shriners Club and the Shriners Band of Lawton. He was a caring individual and was willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed being around people, traveling and being involved in community activities. He was a longtime member of the Eastside Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Mary Myrtle Cooper; brothers: Lloyd Alva Cooper, Gene V. Cooper; and nephew, Ronnie Cooper.
Harry is survived by his children: Virgil Lloyd Cooper, Regina Lynn Trantham and husband Richard; granddaughter, Sonya Michele Trantham; niece, Sandra Cooper; great niece, Rhonda Koxlien; great nephew, Rodney Cooper; great great nieces: Courtney Fixico, Camrie Akers-Neff and son.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim McNair, Charlie Coker, Richard Trantham, Richard Healin, Charlie Hunt, and Richard Ahlskog.
