Hester Ellen Blair was born on August 30, 1928 in Duncan to Cecil and Jewel (Brown) Murphee. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. She was 96 years old.

Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, October 24, from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service is planned for 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 25, at Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating.

Hester graduated from Duncan High School. She married Billey Blankenship with whom she shared two sons: Billey Randell and Gaylon. In 1970, Hester married John Blair. They were devoted to one another for 40 years until his passing in 2010. Hester worked as a bookkeeper for The Duncan Banner for several years. She enjoyed collecting coins, fishing, and going to OU football games. She was a talented seamstress who loved to make pants, shirts, dresses, and blankets. Most of all, Hester loved talking and getting to know people. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church West.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her 2 husbands; son, Billey Randell Blankenship; and sister, Billie Jo Osborn. Hester is survived by her son, Gaylon Blankenship and wife Bonny of Marlow.
