Hope Charity Barnes

Hope Charity Barnes was born on October 8, 1981, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Jerry and Patience (Petary) Wright. She passed away in Denison, Texas surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the age of 44.

Hope attended Rush Springs High School. She later worked at Choctaw Casino, where she served as a soft count supervisor for several years.

On October 24, 1998, Hope married Bobby Barnes. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Cherokee, and built a life centered around family and the memories they shared.

Hope enjoyed traveling and especially loved collecting ceramic gnomes, pottery, and salt and pepper shakers. Her collections reflected the things that brought her joy and often served as special reminders of places she had been and experiences she had shared. Above all, Hope treasured her family. Spending time with those she loved was what mattered most to her, and the memories they created together will be cherished for years to come.

Hope is survived by her husband, Bobby Barnes; daughter, Cherokee Barnes-Woodside; mother, Patience Wright; brother, Jerry Wright Jr.; sister, Faith Clampitt; mother- and father-in-law, Walter "Lucky" and Kathy Barnes; brother- and sister-in-law, Brad and Wendy Bridgers; nieces and nephews: Cheyenne Clampitt, Zachary Clampitt and wife Alexis, Toby Clampitt, Sierra Tucker and husband Austin, Elizabeth Wright, Apache Melton, Madison Cline and husband Austin, Angela Bridgers, and Autumn Bridgers; great nieces and nephews: Ja'kobi Clampitt, Jai'den and Kyleen Hill, Lyric, Noah, Vidia, Eli, and Raven Clampitt, and Oakley Cline, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Wright Sr.; sister, Selina Williams; maternal grandparents, Genivive and Lawrence Petary; and paternal grandparents, Opal and Eugene Wright.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, September 4, at Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral services are planned for 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 5, in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs, Oklahoma with Zack Clampitt, Toby Clampitt, Robby Barnes, David Barnes, Tim Beaushaw, and Glen Barnes Jr. serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Apache Melton and Roman Hill.
