Howard Solomon Obituary

Howard Ray Solomon was born October 10, 1941, in El Monte, California to Oscar Thomas and Mary Pauline (Roark) Solomon. He completed life’s journey on October 28, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Howard graduated from Duncan High School with the class of 1960. He attended Red River Technology Center and received a technical degree from Lawton’s Great Plains Technology Center.

He married Janie Ellen Miller on August 12, 1960, in Duncan. To this union three children – Randy Keith, Danny Ray, Lisa Kay – were born. They later adopted Toby and Michelle.

During Howard’s high school days, he worked for The Duncan Eagle, The Chickasha Daily News and eventually The Lawton Constitution. He and Janie owned a convenience store in Grandfield and a drive-in movie theater in Walters. In 1981, he went to work in the print shop at Halliburton. From Halliburton, he worked at Auto Zone, Cook’s Machine Shop, and finally at Billingsley Ford. He retired in 2018.

Howard is survived by his wife, Janie; children: Randy Keith Solomon (Trisha) of Morgantown, Pennsylvania; Lisa Kay Kriner (John) of Duncan; Toby Solomon of Tulsa; Michelle Rose of Decatur, Mississippi; 9 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Ray Solomon; and brothers: Dale Wayne Solomon, Jerry Don Solomon, and infant brother Lester Wylie Solomon.
