Ilene Bruce Obituary
Ilene Mae Bruce was born June 28, 1961 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Charles Norton and Shirley Jane (Westenhaver) Canfield. She completed her earthly journey on September 13, 2021 in Ardmore at the age of 60.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 19, 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, September 20, at 2:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Live streaming of the service can be seen at www.whittfh.com. Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Hurst, Jeremy Smith, Jimmy Sullivan, Dennis Thacker, Shane Jones and Justin Wilkerson; honorary pallbearers will be Marty’s Karry Out Korner employees. Interment will be in the Alma Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
Ilene attended Woodward High School. She married Ronnie Bruce on July 3, 1979. Together they raised two children – Michael and Sheila. Ilene was a dedicated employee who worked as a cashier and cook for 31 years at Marty’s Karry Out Korner in Ratliff City.
She loved all animals but especially dogs. She loved her dog, Buddy, and enjoyed keeping her granddaughters’ dog, Roscoe. She enjoyed going fishing with her husband and children. Her favorite television programs were Antique Road Show and Judge Judy. She also enjoyed going to the casinos, playing Facebook games, playing Dobbing Bingo, swimming with her granddaughters, and visiting her mom and sister in Woodward. She was known by all of her family as “Nana”, and she loved her three granddaughters with all her heart.
Ilene is survived by her mother, Shirley Canfield of Woodward; son, Michael Bruce of Duncan; daughter, Sheila Bruce of Velma; granddaughters: Jayden Bruce, Emily Bruce, and Kaylee Bruce; brother, Kenneth Canfield; and sisters: Linda Jackson, Debbie and Kent McAdoo, and twin sister Jolene Martin, all of Woodward.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Canfield; husband, Ronnie Bruce; daughter-in-law, Carrie Bruce; brother, Chuck Canfield; brother-in-law, Marty Martin; mother-in-law, Carlyn June Wheeler; and special friend, Dewayne Woodford.
