JD Donahue Obituary

Johnny "JD" Donahue III was born February 27, 1962 in Seattle, Washington to Gladys (Scott) and Johnnie Donahue Jr. He passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at his home in Lawton at the age of 59.

There are no services scheduled at this time; however, the family is having a small memorial gathering at the family home on Saturday, June 5, from 2:00-6:00P.M. In lieu of flowers, a cares account has been established at Arvest Bank for the release of ashes ceremony which will be scheduled for a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center of Duncan.

JD graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington in 1979. He joined the US Army in June 1982 as a radar surveyor. He proudly served his country for 24 years in many places, i.e. Fort Lewis, Fort Hood, two different times in Korea, Germany, and Fort Sill. He was a true patriot - a soldier through and through and felt that NCO's (Non-Commissioned Officers) were the backbone of the Army. He was a good speaker with very eloquent words. His sense of humor came out during his speeches. He ended all of his comments with "BACKBONE!" He served as the narrator for many functions at Fort Sill.

On December 6, 1985 he married Edith I. Byzio in Augsburg, Germany. She preceded his in death on January 30, 2021.

He was a huge sports fan. He loved baseball, soccer and basketball; his favorite teams were the Lakers, Raiders, Washington Huskies, and NY Yankees. He also loved music and was a connoisseur of all music.

JD is survived by his daughters, Nadine Donahue of Atlanta, Georgia and Selina Donahue of Lawton; grandchildren: Jayden Donahue and Isaiah Thomas; many brothers and sisters; and a host of special friends who became family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, and his parents.
