Jack Don Stephenson was born January 29, 1935 in Velma, Oklahoma to Ted and Jewel (Newman) Stephenson. He passed away on February 10, 2021 in Lawton at the age of 86.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 12, from 5:00-6:30 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, at 1:30 P.M. at the New Velma Cemetery with Rev. Ron Meador officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Jack was a 1953 graduate of Velma High School. He married Frances Bergen on March 21, 1953. To this union three children – Freda, Garry and Robby – were born.
He owned a grocery store in Velma which sold in 1969. He then owned and operated Stephenson Oil Company in Duncan from 1970 until 2000. Additionally, he was a welder. He loved to go cat fishing, trot line fishing and camping. If he had any free time, he could be found at Lake Texoma where he would usually take his children fishing and camping.
Jack is survived by his children: Garry and wife Margaret Stephenson of Duncan; Robby and wife Ruby Stephenson of Marlow; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances; daughter, Freda Ross; and sister, Joyce Wiggins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Garry Stephenson, Robby Stephenson, Colby Stephenson, Garry Stephenson II, Scott Stephenson, Ashton Stephenson and Joe Stephenson.
