Obituary

James "Jim" McNair, of Duncan, Oklahoma, was born February 9, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Tom and Rose (Bielik) McNair. He passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023, in Oklahoma City with his family at his side.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, January 23, between 5:30-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Services are planned for Tuesday, January 24, at 2:00 P.M. at Bethel Assembly of God Church with Ron Meador and Bennie Grissom officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Cayman McNair, Johnathan Simmons, Austin McNair, Aaron McNair, Daniel McCalvin and Scott Martin; honorary pallbearer is Richard Heelan. Interment will follow in the Marlow Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Jim received an Associate's degree from Cameron University. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force as an Airman First Class from 1955 to 1963, serving in numerous locations including Sampson Air Force Base in New York, Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, and Thule Air Base in Qaanaaq, Greenland. He then became a manager for Zales Jewelry for 26 years. He also worked at Stage Department Store for several years. Jim served in law enforcement for many years - the US Marshal's Office for 2 years, the Stephens County Sheriff's office for 7 years, and as a volunteer for the Duncan Police Department for 38 years.

He married Priscilla Harper on September 1, 2000 at the Stephens Country Courthouse in Duncan. He loved going to the farm and spending time in the country. He enjoyed going camping at Lake Murray, as well as Woodland Park and CaƱon City, Colorado. He was especially fond of his dogs, Gabe and Angel, and his horses, Red and Peaches. Jim was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a man who loved God and was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church. Family was important to Jim and he loved spending time with them.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jim is survived by his wife of 22 years, Priscilla; sons and daughters-in-law: Phillip and Susan McNair of Duncan, Tom and Karen McNair of Duncan, John and Julie McNair of Huntsville, Alabama, Richard McNair of Colorado; step-daughter, Shelly Terrill of Duncan; grandchildren: Brandi and husband Scott Martin, Misti and husband Daniel McCalvin, Megan McNair, Madison and husband Dalton Krase, Caymon McNair, Merideth McNair, Austin McNair, Aaron McNair, Ashley and husband Matt Whitehead, Tawny and husband Bryan Gerhart, Morgan Terrill and Cody Adams; and great-grandchildren: Asher and Brooks Martin, Eli and Greyson McCalvin; Johnathon Simmons; Makenzie Simmons; Kayman Krase; Kylor Sears; Kooper and Kohen Adams; Leland and Oliver Gerhart.
