Eva Jane (Hale) Benedict was born November 3, 1928, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Issac Benson and Nettie Louise (Roach) Hale. She finished life’s journey on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at the age of 91 in Duncan.
Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, September 22, 5:00-7:00P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, at 10:00A.M. at Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Jane attended Comanche Public Schools. She married Thomas James Benedict on July 11, 1945, in Waurika. She was the owner/operator of Books Galore, which enabled her love of reading. She also worked at Haggar’s and Johnson & Eck Drug Store. Jane taught swimming lessons for the American Red Cross. She was an avid flower gardener. She enjoyed reading to the children at Elk Crossing.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Benson Hale; sister, Margie Martin, and grandson, Derek Benedict.
Jane is survived by her children: Thomas and wife Beverly Benedict of Tulare, California, Larry and wife Brenda Benedict of Hastings, Joe Bob and wife Debbie Benedict of Duncan; grandchildren: James Benedict, Christine and husband Christopher DeLette, Terry and wife Dawn Benedict, Tina and husband Sedrick Cortney, Jeremiah Hulet; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and good friend, Wanda Simpson.
