Janie "Jane" Aldridge Obituary

Janie Ruth (Gray) Aldridge passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on July 28, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born on June 27, 1931, Jane grew up in Duncan, Oklahoma and graduated from Duncan High School with the Class of 1949. She went on to further her education at The Oklahoma College for Women, carrying a lifelong love of learning and community with her.

Jane dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker. She found her greatest joy in being a loving wife and mother, creating a warm, welcoming home for those she cherished most. An exceptional cook, Jane delighted in preparing meals that brought her family together around the dinner table. She especially cherished the precious time she spent watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

Outside the home, Jane's vibrant spirit shone through her close, enduring friendships and deep faith. She maintained an extraordinary, lifelong bond with her special group of high school friends known as "the 49er's," deeply treasuring the yearly trips they took together over the decades. She also loved playing bridge with her girlfriends and looked forward to the fellowship of her Harmony Bible study group at the First Christian Church of Duncan, where she was a long-time member. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Jane is survived by her loving son, Ben Aldridge, and her daughter-in-law, Amy Aldridge. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Allie Horton and her husband Kevin, and Duncan Aldridge and his fiancé Julie Farrell; and her two precious great-grandchildren, Bianca Horton and Bryn Bella Horton. She also loved and cherished her nieces and nephews: Jack, Marilyn, Beverly, Phil, Hunter, Lula, Wynette, Lyn, Pamela, Sharon, Joe, and Kent. Jane leaves behind her lifelong friend, Mary Frances Cox, whose dedicated support and companionship meant the world to Jane during her later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted Gray and Allie Eastwood Gray; her husband, Gene Aldridge; her sister, Yvonne Gray Dixon; and her daughter, Vicki Aldridge Lewis.

A memorial service is planned for 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 4, at First Christian Church with Rev. John Wheeler officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
