Jewell Kunze Obituary
Jewell Mae Kunze, of Cyril, Oklahoma, was born on August 19, 1926, in Stecker, Oklahoma, to Boyd and Rosa (Woods) Smith. She passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, having just celebrated her 100th birthday.
The family will receive visitors at Crews Funeral Home in Apache, Oklahoma on Thursday, September 3, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. A graveside service is planned for 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 4, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, with Donnie Miller officiating and under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.
Jewell attended Apache High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1944. While attending school, she worked at a local drug store. On August 16, 1946, she married the love of her life, Warren Kunze. Together, Jewell and Warren built a beautiful life centered around their family and shared 70 years of marriage before Warren's passing in 2016.
Jewell devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and caring for her family. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and taking vacations with Warren and their children, creating many treasured memories along the way. She and Warren also enjoyed going to bingo together. Above all else, Jewell loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy, and the time she spent with them was always especially meaningful to her.
Jewell is survived by her children: Michael Kunze and wife Rachel of Anadarko, Oklahoma, and Alan Kunze and wife Connie of Austin, Texas; grandchildren: Casey Kunze and husband Weston Scholten, Tracy Russo and husband Rodney, Dynasty Kunze, Trenitie Kunze, Heaven Mendoza and husband Ryan, Catherine Strickland and husband Troy, Christine Montgomery, Melanie Bare and husband Steven, and Melissa Adamson and husband Jasper; great-grandson, Nelson Kunze who she raised; numerous great- and great-great grandchildren; and sister, Opal Roberts-Hukill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Rosa Smith; beloved husband, Warren Kunze; grandson, Mike Kunze; brothers: Walter Smith and Claude Smith; and sisters: Ethel Stidham, Leona Flynn, and Frances Adam.
Jewell's century of life was filled with family, love, and countless memories. Her devotion to those she loved and the legacy she leaves through generations of her family will be lovingly remembered for years to come.
