Jim Taylor Obituary

Jim W. Taylor, 87, of Marlow, Oklahoma, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, April 11, 2026. He was born December 29, 1938, in Marlow, Oklahoma to JW and Marie (Parker) Taylor.

Jim was a man whose life was defined by hard work, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. In 1974, he became the owner and operator of Marlow Floral, a business he poured his heart and soul into for more than five decades. His work ethic was unmatched-he rarely took a day off-and he was constantly thinking of new ways to help his customers grow their own businesses. For Jim, floristry was more than a profession; it was a calling.

Through the years, Jim built countless relationships that went far beyond the typical customer-business bond. He treated his employees like family and formed deep, lasting friendships with many of the people he served. His generosity, encouragement, and willingness to help others made him a pillar in the floral community.

Jim also played an important role in the development of several floral associations across surrounding states. He was always eager to lend his knowledge, support, and leadership to help others succeed.

Above all, Jim was a loving husband who was married to his best friend and business partner for 44 years. Jim was a man of quiet strength and steady kindness. His legacy is reflected in the lives he touched, the businesses he supported, and the community he helped shape.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Taylor; and sister, Diane Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; brother, Sid Lanier, his children; sister-in-law, Christina Harvey; nieces, nephews, cousins, work family, and many customers who were like family to him as well.

Funeral services are planned for 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 17, in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow in the Marlow Cemetery with Jeremy Sandusky, Sid Lanier, Cash Easley, Tracy Knuckles and Joe Turner serving as pallbearers.
