Jimmie “Jim” Lee Watson was born August 30, 1936, in Hichita, Oklahoma to Homer and Hazel Watson. He finished his earthly journey on Saturday, June 20, 2020, with his family by his side. He was 83.
Viewing will be on Monday, June 22, from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, at 10:00 A.M. in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery, with Bro. Randy Southerland officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Jim was a 1954 graduate of Duncan High School. On January 4, 1957, he married Wanda Sue Goldsmith, a marriage that lasted 63 years. They raised two sons, Kim and Chris.
He was employed as the safety supervisor for Halliburton for 38 years. He then taught Safety at Red River Technology Center for 3 years. He enjoyed singing, writing songs, and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Duncan Barbershop Quartet. Jim was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan. He loved painting with water colors. Jim was very involved with his church – First Freewill Baptist Church in Duncan.
Jim is survived by his wife, Wanda Sue; children: Kim and wife Gaye Watson of Duncan; Chris and wife Kelli Watson of Houston; grandchildren: Courtney Watson of Dallas; Corey and wife Chelsea Watson of Edmond; Cooper Watson of Houston; Connor Watson of New Orleans, Louisiana; Gray Watson of Evanston, Illinois; Tanner Watson of Houston; great grandchildren: Dagan Watson; Tripp Watson; Gage Watson; Stark Watson; brother, Joe and wife Sharon Watson of Guymon; and sister, Linda and husband Charles Bridges of Stillwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Hazel Watson; grandson, Chase Watson; and sister, Mary Ann Andis.
