Jimmie David Wheeler, 82, passed away in Comanche, OK on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 with his loving family by his side.
A graveside memorial service is scheduled for Monday, October 26, at 1:00 P.M. at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche with Pastor Brad Allen officiating. Arrangements are under the care of the Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan.
Jimmie was born on July 10, 1938 in Wellington, Texas to Alburn Wilson Wheeler and Geniva May (Coggins) Wheeler. He graduated from Chickasha High School. Jimmie married Wanda Faye Hamby in Chickasha on February 14, 1993. They were married for 20 years before Wanda's passing in December of 2012. Jimmie was a first sergeant in United States Army, serving for 22 years. He worked in Chickasha for the OSU Research Farm for more than 20 years before retiring in 2000. Jimmie also worked for NASA in New Mexico for awhile as well. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Duncan and a member of the Countryside Baptist Church.
Jimmie is survived by five children, Michelle Stribling and husband Tony, Scott Wheeler, Stacey Ard and husband Jerome, Todd Wheeler, and Crystal Shahan and husband Johnny. He is also survived by several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren as well as a sister, Judy Burk.
Along with his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Steven Wheeler, Troy Wheeler, three brothers, Charlie Wheeler, Bob Wheeler, Danny Wheeler, two sisters, Juanita Knight, and Edna Shellings; and grandson, Charles Wheeler.
