Joann Parman was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on February 28, 1939, to Garvin and Jo Ella (Williams) Robins. She finished her earthly journey on Saturday, September 23, in Duncan at the age of 84.
A visitation is planned for Thursday, October 5, at Whitt Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A graveside funeral service will take place at Marlow Cemetery on Friday, October 6, at 10:00 A.M. with pastor Brandon Blasingame officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Joann graduated from Marlow High School and went to college at USAO and OSU, earning a master's degree. She taught English and Home Economics for 18 years. She then worked as an assistant for Bob Crawford in his law office for 20 years. Joann served as treasurer for her chapter of Sigma for many years and was also a member of the fraternal order of Rainbow Girls and an Eastern Star. She attended Eastside Baptist Church in Marlow. Joann enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, and baking pies. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Garva Barnes and Jay Patton and wife Stacy; grandchildren: Jay Michael Patton, Bri Dunford and husband J.D., Shelby Barnes, and Chelsi Patton; great-grandson, James Dunford.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, and a sister, Garvene English.
