Johnie Nickerson Obituary
Johnie Dewayne Nickerson passed away in Duncan on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at the age of 72.
A memorial service is scheduled on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin with military honors being conducted by the Stephens County Honor Guard. All arrangements are under the care of Oakcrest Cremation Center/Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan.
Johnie was born in Ada on July 12, 1948, to Johnie Wilson Nickerson and Virginia Dale (McGowan) Nickerson. He served in the United States Army for more than 20 years before retiring. Following his military retirement, he worked overseas for Halliburton Special Services and then as a truck driver for Patterson Drilling moving rigs before retiring. Johnie enjoyed the outdoors especially camping and fishing. He liked playing dominoes with his uncles and friends. Johnie loved driving and playing on his tractor but, most of all, he just enjoyed spending time with his family that he adored.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Wilma Nickerson; three sisters: Linda Sampson, Beverly Pierce, Phyllis Potter; two uncles: Doc Nickerson, JR Nickerson; and aunt, Mary Fletcher.
Johnie was preceded in death by his parents.
