Joseph Benjamin Story was born August 12, 1984, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Benny Joe and Marie Alta (Elliott) Story. He passed from this life on January 1, 2025, in Comanche, Oklahoma at the age of 40.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00-7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 7, at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 8, at Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Woods Sr. officiating. Interment will take place at 1:00 P.M. in Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Johnson, Tracy Bunnell, Joseph Allen, Nathan Menga, Paul Menga and Donny Foraker.
After graduating high school and attending Connors State College, Joseph joined the U.S. Army and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom where he earned a Joint Service Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and an Iraq Campaign Medal along with several other awards and ribbons. After his discharge, he worked in construction. Joseph was a talented artist and enjoyed playing guitar, riding dirt bikes, and fishing. Most of all, Joseph loved to spend time with his family, especially his children, nieces, and nephews.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lydia Robertson. Survivors include his daughter, Breonna Myers; son, Benny Strebeck; and sisters: Christina Johnson and husband Jeremy of Duncan, Gloria Story of Duncan, Melony Bunnell and husband Tracy of Chickasha, Minnie Patton and husband Darrell of Lone Grove, and Phoebe Gibson and husband Jeff of Ninnekah.
