Joyce Faye Burton was born November 14, 1941, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Norve and Elthera (McMillan) Wilson. She passed away at her home in Comanche, Oklahoma, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the age of 84.
After graduating from Chickasha High School in 1959, Joyce answered the call to serve her country by joining the United States Navy. She carried that sense of dedication and strength with her throughout her life.
Joyce was a welder for much of her working life running her own business manufacturing farm and ranch equipment.
Joyce found joy in the simple things and always enjoyed keeping busy. She loved gardening and took great pleasure in canning the produce especially salsa and sharing it with her family. She was also a talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing pajamas and quilts for the entire family. Joyce was ruthless at dominoes and Scrabble. In more recent years, she could often be found enjoying a friendly game of Words With Friends, always ready for a little friendly competition.
Above all, family was the center of Joyce's life. Her happiest moments were those spent surrounded by the people she loved, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether sharing stories, celebrating special occasions, or simply enjoying time together, those moments were among her greatest treasures.
Joyce is survived by her children: Linda Anderson of Comanche, Cindy Parry and husband Matt of Vici, , Joy Alspach and husband Steve of Stillwater, Jenny Poff and husband Tim of Comanche, and step-daughter, Liliian Nixon of Duncan; her grandchildren: Brian Palmer, Jennifer Ketcherside, Gage Martin, Ali Givens, Hayden Poff, Breanne Poff, Tristan Anderson, Madeline Parry, Emily Parry, and Jenna Poff; and 10 great-grandchildren.
