Joyce Whitfield (Sides) Frechette was born on November 12, 1931, in Comanche, Oklahoma to Frank and Georgia (Helm) Sides. She passed away in Duncan Regional Hospital on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the age of 92.
A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 28, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche with Arnold Nelson officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Joyce worked at International Paper in California while raising her children, then as a medical assistant during her later years until retirement. Her passion was genealogy. She volunteered at the Stephens County Genealogy Library until she could no longer work. She raised 5 children and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Billie Sue Castaneda and Frankie L. Sides, Joyce is survived by her children: Bill C. Whitfield of Duncan, Deborah L. Pope of Duncan, Clifton D. Whitfield of Duncan, Linda J. Rose and husband Dennis of El Dorado, California, and Daniel W. Whitfield of Duncan. Joyce is also survived by her grandchildren: Billy C. Whitfield, Joyce M. Whitfield, Tina M. Ragland, Brian A. De Los Angeles, Cali A. Lombardi, Shanna L. Rose, Daniel W. Whitfield; great-grandchildren: Adrien Whitfield, Tameaka Whitfield, Christan Lopez, Stephen Lopez, Alexis Ramos, Ayden Alcantar, Samantha Graves, Patrick Ragland, Eric Ragland, Norma Washington, Stephi Washington, Mikaylah Richardson, Nicholas Lombardi, Nathan Lombardi, Leila Whitfield; great-great-grandchildren: Adrien Whitfield, Lucas Whitfield, Lola Whitfield, Glen Biddle, Aurora Lopez, Nashoba Lopez, Cameron Starks, Jordon Beach, DaQuan Graves, Terry Love; and sister, Lillian Frances Boon of Pennsylvania.
