Joyce Hallock Obituary

Joyce Louise Hallock, of Duncan, was born November 2, 1925 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Philip Reed and Kathrine (Warfield) Monsey. At the age of 99, she completed her earthly journey on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Meridian Nursing Home.

A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, May 12, at 1:00 P.M. at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Chaplain Dalton Matthews officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

After her high school graduation, Joyce attended Oklahoma University and University of Science & Art where she earned her Bachelor's degree. On August 31, 1946, she married the love of her life, Leslie "Les" Carlyle Hallock, Together, they raised three children - Leslie Katherine, Mary Joyce, and Philip Wayne. Joyce was employed as an elementary teacher and retired in 1985 after 29 years of teaching. She enjoyed quilting and painting. Fishing for stripers and camping were two other activities she enjoyed. She attended the yearly Airborne reunions with Les every year. Joyce and Les loved to square dance and they loved traveling to Red River, New Mexico. They were longtime members of the First Presbyterian Church.

Joyce is survived by her children: Mary Rowe of Duncan, Philip and wife Nancy Hallock; son-in-law, Jerry Whitehead; grandchildren: Chris and wife Shona Whitehead, Micah Rowe, Christina and husband Kevin Locklear; and great grandchildren: Greenley Locklear, Kinsley Locklear, Liam Locklear, Maddox Locklear, John Whitehead, Heidi Rowe, and Adaline Rowe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 75 years, Les; daughter, Leslie Whitehead; and brother, Philip Reed Monsey.

Special thanks to Robbi, Amanda, Shayle, and Chaplain Dalton Matthews of Good Shepherd Hospice for the adequate and loving care they provided for Joyce. We would also like to thank Rev. Mark T. Henslee, pastor of First Presbyterian Church and Chaplain Dalton Matthews, for their many visits with Joyce that she enjoyed so much. Thank you also to Gayla Cohen and the staff at Meridian Nursing Home.
