Joyce "Joy" Haynie Obituary
Joyce "Joy" Elaine Haynie was born June 22, 1943, in Tacoma, Washington to Revello and Eula (Palmer) Ansteth. She passed away after a hard-fought battle with pneumonia on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the age of 81.
A private memorial service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Joy was the only girl out of 4 children and lived up to her name. She did her best to create a well-lived and fulfilled life for herself and her family. She graduated from Spanaway High School in Washington and worked as a real estate escrow agent for most of her life. In her free time, Joy enjoyed baking, cross stitch, crafts, and sewing, even making her own fashion trends including matching shirts for her husband and grandkids.
On January 29, 1981, she married Gerald "Jerry" Richard Haynie Sr. in Washington. They were blissfully married for 37 years before his passing in 2019. Joyce loved her family dearly and spending time with them is what brought her the most joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald; and three brothers: John, Wally, and Cliff Ansteth.
Joyce is survived by her children: Gene Wagner and wife Ilse of Duncan, Kenneth Wagner of Seagoville, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Colleen Ansteth and Karen Ansteth both of Washington; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Elk Crossing for their compassionate care and dedication to Joy during her time at the facility.
