Juan Hernandez was born May 23, 1956, in Nueva Reforma, Durango, Mexico to Arturo Acosta and Maria Luisa Hernandez. He passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 69.

A funeral service is planned for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 5, at the Iglesia de dios de la profecia with Israel Lopez officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.

Juan married Maria Puentes in Mexico on January 17, 1976. Together they raised 6 children: Manuel, Elvia, Rene, David, Damaris, and Daniel. Juan worked in the oil field as a floor hand but in his free time, he loved hunting, gardening, and all animals, especially horses. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hector Acosta.

His legacy will live on through his wife, Maria, and children: Manuel (Blanca) Hernandez of Duncan, Elvia Hernandez of Perryton, TX, Rene (Laura) Hernandez of Duncan, David (Sara) Hernandez of Duncan, Damaris Noemi Hernandez (Esau Najera) of Torreon, Mexico, and Daniel (Marlen) Hernandez of Duncan; 24 grandchildren: Juan A. Hernandez, Eliazar Hernandez, Estefania Hernandez, Josue Hernandez, Alberto A. Hernandez, Steven Hernandez, Giselle Garcia, Jazmin Hernandez, Isabel Hernandez, Jessica Hernandez, Eric Hernandez, Genesis Hernandez, Abigail Hernandez, Briana Hernandez, Priscila Hernandez, Dalila Hernandez, Leah Hernandez, Esly Najera, Jacob Najera, Esau Najera, Haziel Najera, Israel Hernandez, Sofia Hernandez, Julian Hernandez; and 9 great-grandchildren: Jo'siyah Castillo, Elier Garcia, Kailani Garcia, Addalyn Hernandez, Joel Hernandez, Amayah Hernandez, Izan Hernandez, Jalen Windholz, and Adan Vargas Hernandez.

Juan is also survived by brothers: Manuel B. Hernandez, Pauline Hernandez, Angel Hernandez, Manuel Hernandez, Sergio Acosta, Everardo Acosta, Fernando Acosta, Arturo Acosta; and sisters: Elvira Hernandez, Virginia Hernandez, Matilde Hernandez, Rafaela Hernandez, Catalina Hernandez, Hilda Acosta, Lety Acosta, Lili Acosta, and Karo Acosta.
