Kenneth Doil McCord was born on February 5, 1931, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Doil and Zadie (Riddles) McCord. He went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his home in Comanche, at the age of 95.
Viewing will be available at Whitt Funeral Home Saturday from 10:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. and Sunday from 1:00-5:00 P.M. Funeral services are planned for 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 23, at Ray of Hope Church with Bruce Humphries and Steve McCord officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche with Ronnie Mears, Aimee Mears, Kenny Roden, Heath Roden, Zach Mears, and Monte McCord serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Freddie McCord, Jimmy McCord, Robert Martin, and Anna Lisa Hudson.
Kenneth grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before attended classes at the University of Oklahoma. He then, began a long and respected career as a drilling consultant in the oil field, where he was known for his strong work ethic and deep knowledge of the industry.
On September 26, 1950, Kenneth married the love of his life, Mildred Woods. Together they shared 72 years of marriage before her passing. Their life together was filled with devotion, partnership, and the joy of raising their three daughters: Peggy, Janice, and Jackie.
Kenneth was a man who loved to work with his hands. He enjoyed carpentry projects and took great pride in caring for his yard. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a constant source of joy, and he treasured every moment with them. A man of deep faith, Kenneth faithfully attended Ray of Hope Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doil and Zadie; wife, Mildred; brother, Bill McCord; and sister, Yvonne McCord.
Survivors include his children: Peggy Sorrell of Duncan, Janice Pewitt of Comanche, Jackie McCord of Comanche; grandchildren: Kenny Roden and wife Wendy, Heath Roden and wife Karen, Aimee Mears and husband Ronnie, Anna Hudson; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include brothers: Freddie McCord, Jimmy McCord and wife Sue; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
