James “Kenneth” Taliaferro was born February 9, 1931, in Rubottom, Oklahoma, to James Benjamin Taliaferro and Maudie Ann Denham Taliaferro. He left his earthly home and met his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, at the age of 90.
Visitation with family will be Friday, October 15th between 5-7pm at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 16th, at 10am, at Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Billy Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery.
Kenneth graduated High School from Courtney, Oklahoma in 1949. He was employed by Halliburton for 38 years and retired in 1986 from Nitrogen Services with 38 years of service. Before beginning his career with Halliburton he worked as a roughneck for Nabors Drilling.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Masoner, on May 3, 1951, in Wichita Falls, Tx. They had two children, Chris and Kena. His main passion was loving his Family and serving the Lord. He loved playing guitar and harmonica, singing country and western and Gospel music. He and his son played for many on various occasions. His hobbies included fishing, camping, and gardening or whatever Shirley desired.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Kena Cheree and husband Michael Ward of Duncan, OK; Daughter- In-Law, Gayle Taliaferro of Duncan; Grandchildren Craig and wife Kara Taliaferro of Duncan, OK, Michael Taliaferro of OKC, OK, Matthew Jennings of Marlow, OK, and Kayleigh and wife Kirsten Jennings of Austin, Tx; Great Grandchildren Devon Taliaferro, Drew Taliaferro, Daxton Taliaferro, Avery Taliaferro, Kinley Taliaferro, Jaxon Jennings, and Aubrey Jennings.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Taliaferro; Son Chris Taliaferro; Parents James B. Taliaferro and Maudie Ann Denham King; Brother Eddie Dean Taliaferro; Sisters Oleta Harris and Almeta Nabors; Grandchildren Stephanie Taliaferro and infant twins Scott and Kevin Taliaferro.
Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Taliaferro, Michael Taliaferro, Matthew Jennings, Devon Taliaferro, Drew Taliaferro, and Jaxon Jennings.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made online to Alzheimer’s Association or by mail to the Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
